About Us
Founded in 1969, Larry Sturdivant opened up what is now Sturdivant’s Tire and Auto, Inc. (formerly Larry’s Alignment Shop), starting out with a two bay garage specializing in wheel alignments, front end repairs, and tires. For many years, Larry and his son Darian, along with some occasional help, ran Larry’s Alignment Shop by building a reputation of honesty and integrity, ultimately becoming one of the finest front end specialty shops in the state of North Carolina.
In 1987, Larry’s nephew, Terry Sturdivant, took over the operation. He did so with a strong background in the automotive field. Receiving his hands-on training not only from working with his uncle, but he also worked at Chapel Hill Tire, Pages Tire and Auto, Rigsbee Tire, and finally as a store manager for Merchants and Auto in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
In October of 1988, Terry, along with Howard Pratt (ASE certified technician and vice president of Sturdivant’s Tire and Auto), took over Larry’s Alignment Shop. Maintaining the same reputation his uncle has started, the business started to grow even more and a few years later became incorporated and changed its name to Sturdivant’s Tire and Auto, Inc. It has now become a major player in the tire and automotive repair business in the Chapel Hill area. Sturdivant’s now has 10 bays, a total of 9 full time and 2 part time employees, and has also expanded its services dramatically.
The team they have assembled is second to none in the tire and automotive industry with a combined 170 years of experience.
